Invest in Sleep

Straight answers about beds, from someone who isn’t selling you one.

We read the terms, the standards and the research so you don’t have to. Every figure comes from a first-party UK source, and every page records the date it was checked.

We don’t sell mattresses and we haven’t slept on the ones we write about. What we do instead is put eight companies’ small print side by side — which is exactly what no retailer has much reason to publish.

Why this site exists

Almost everything written about mattresses in Britain is written by someone with a mattress to sell. That is not a scandal — it is how the category is funded. But it means a set of perfectly checkable facts go largely unreported, because no brand has any reason to report them.

None of what we publish requires insider access. It requires reading eight sets of terms and writing down what they say — then saying plainly when a confidently stated figure turns out to rest on nothing at all.

First-party sources only for anything factual. If a figure cannot be traced to the brand’s own UK page or to the regulation itself, we say so rather than repeating it. There are several examples of exactly that across the site.

Dates on everything. Terms change with promotions. Each page records when it was last checked, so you can judge for yourself whether to re-verify before relying on it.

We say when the evidence is thin. For a great deal of what this industry asserts, we could not find a study or a published standard behind it. Spring counts, firmness scales, replacement intervals, “orthopaedic” support — we say what we looked for and what we found, and we correct entries when someone points us to a source.

No invented testing. We haven’t slept on these mattresses and won’t pretend otherwise. What we offer is comparison and documentation, not a verdict we haven’t earned. More about how this works →
